The Lhasa Apso Club

Committee

President

Mrs Irene Plumstead

I have had Lhasas for over fifty years and bred a number of Champions both here and abroad. One of my most memorable moments came in 1984 when I judged the breed at Crufts. My Best of Breed went on to be Best in Show! That was of course Champion Saxonsprings Hackensack. I feel honoured to hold the position of President and I attend as many committee meetings and shows as I can

Hon Chairman: Mr Stuart Keay

Hon Treasurer: Mr Stuart Keay

I've been involved with Apsos since 1983. I've been on the LAC committee since 2000 and Treasurer since 2001. Before joining the LAC committee I was a committee member of the MLAA for eleven years, nine of which I served as Treasurer. I was passed to award CC's by the Kennel Club in 1998 and have judged at ticket level four times. My proudest being the judge at the LAC Ch Show in 2005.

Vice Chairman: Mrs Maureen Sutcliffe

I owned my first Lhasas in 1977, after they passed away I took a short break. I returned to the breed in 1999 with a beautiful Sealaw girl. Since that time I have been showing and breeding the occasional litter. I have been a Club member for seven years and on the committee for three. I enjoy the shows and getting to meet all friends there.

Hon Secretary: Mr Nick Clancy:   email

I’m a career administrator, having joined the Civil Service shortly after gaining a degree in English Literature. Within the breed I have served on the Committees of both SELAS and the Lhasa Apso Club, and developed and managed the original LAC website. In addition I have served on the Committees of the Herts & Essex Border Canine Society and Roding Ringcraft Club, and for about 18 months on the Kennel Club Shows Liaison Council. I have stewarded for many years at breed club shows, general open shows and at Crufts.

Mrs Jo Casey

I live in Surrey with my family and three Lhasa Apso's all rehomed through rescue. I am married with two teenage children and work part time as a Teaching Assistant. I am interested in anything related to animal welfare which is something I feel passionate about and am able to bring into my role on the committee. I don't show, so I hope I bring the 'pet owners' voice to the club too!

Mrs Heather Copland

My late husband and I first owned the breed in 1976, one highlight being making up a Champion bitch, bred by Mrs Matthews. I have been awarding CCs since 2004. I have been a member of the LAC since having Lhasa Apso's. I served as a committee member of SELAS for eleven years and been on the LAC committee since 2003. Although I do not show any more I do look forward to future judging appointments.

Mrs Gail Free

I have had this lovely breed for over twenty years, starting with Saxonsprings dogs. I enjoy showing but I do not have litters very often. I have been a member of the LAC since 1989 and been on the committee for the last three years. My main job with the committee at the moment is the Club Calendar

Mrs Gail Fleet

I got my first Lhasa from Maureen Sutcliffes' first litter and have been besotted ever since! Maureen also got me into showing, although I do get nervous, -still- I enjoy the shows. I am now the proud owner of six wonderful Lhasas! I have been on the committee for two years.

Mrs Janet Holloway

I have had the breed since 1982 but only had three litters. My greatest moment came when I successfully made brother and sister Champions from my second litter. I have been awarding CCs since 2005. I was Breed Council representative from its conception till last year. I have been on the Club committee for sixteen years, Chairman for nine, a position I have now resigned from for health reasons.

Mr Gordon Leaver

We first started showing Lhasas about thirteen years ago. We had a break but got back into showing with Iced Gems at Shogandale. I have been Ring Steward at several Open Shows and have judged the breed at Open Show level. I have been a member for several years and served on the committee for an enjoyable three years. I currently hold the position of Cup Steward and have also taken photos at some of the Club Shows.

Mr Jon Norris

I am based in Norfolk and have had an interest in, and kept dogs all my life, having had Lhasas for 14 years. I have bred one Lhasa Champion, gaining BOB at Crufts 2009. I have served on the committee for 2 years.

Ms Linda Owen

I have been involved with showing dogs for about 25 years now, I have had Beardies, an Afghan hound, and my beloved Boxers.. But when I developed Arthritis in my knees I went for a smaller breed but I wanted something with some spirit hence I ended up with Lhasa's !! I have been a member of the LAC for quite a few years and I am also the breeds rescue "officer" as they call me !! which involves me collecting and re-homing any unwanted little waifs and strays who pass my way !!!

Mrs Belinda Yaxley

I have lived with dogs all my life, I have four grown up 'biological' children, one super husband, and at the moment five 'lhasa' children. I have a background in committee workings and procedures and event management, although I am a 'stay ay home' mummy now. I am enjoying showing dogs again and have been made to feel very welcome.

Mrs Sarah Hattrell

I was born into the world of showdogs with both parents being championship show judges, I was an active junior handler and have been showing ever since. I owned my first Lhasa Apsos 20 years ago and after a few years break became an Apso owner again and now have 3 including a champion bitch. I award CCS in Lhasa Apsos,3 sizes of Schnauzers,German Spitz and Afghan Hounds.Having served on many committees over the years I felt it was now time to serve the Apsos.
